Cask #162426
Aged for 11 years in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads; finished for 4 years in a second-fill American oak Pedro Ximénez hogshead
Aged 15 years; distilled September 2009 and bottled summer 2025
A pleasing first impression of fresh meadow leads to quince jam and dried apple with hints of citrus. The palate is round, with prickles of spice dancing over ripe orchard fruit and green banana. More developed floral and citrus notes guide the long, easygoing finish.
A Diageo workhorse whose production of nearly 10 million liters per year provides the beguilingly grassy component of Johnny Walker blends, Teaninich achieves its signature flavor profile (and production efficiency) by employing a mash filter instead of a mash tun. With a flavor profile that favors fresh-mown hay over malty grain, Teaninich distillate provides a soft, fresh canvas for the finishing influences of a second-fill Pedro Ximénez hogshead, in turn shining a light on the art of selection and finishing that is the hallmark of talented bottling.
