Description

Samaroli began in 1968 as one of the earliest independent whisky bottlers and the first non-English and non-Scottish-based brands. It is named after Silvano Samaroli who got his start in import and working at a wine & spirits merchant. Known for extremely high-quality releases, Samaroli is coveted as one of the top independent bottlers to this day, even after Silvano’s passing in 2017. Based out of Rome, Italy, they stay true to their Italian roots with unorthodox flair when choosing what to bottle.

Taste

Blended Malt Components

  •  1 cask of Ardmore 2014 in a refill Bourbon hogshead
  •  1 cask of Inchfad (peated Loch Lomond) 2020 in a refill Bourbon hogshead
  •  1 cask of Inchmurrin (unpeated Loch Lomond) 2014 in a refill Bourbon barrel

Brand Tasting Notes: A fragrant smokiness emerges, followed by a medley of malty notes, grass, pear drops, and roasted greens. This initial impression doesn’t deceive the palate upon tasting. On the palate, it gradually transforms into an elegant profile with a plethora of pungent notes such as thyme and burnt rosemary.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Lemon lime, honey bbq smoked meat glaze, ash, and soot on the palate. Burnt fruit and nuts.
