Natterjack Cask Strength Irish Whiskey

Natterjack was founded by Jordan Via and Aidan Mehigan, who both met at Breckenridge Distillery in Colorado, along with Lisa Mehigan. They loved Bourbon and Irish Whiskey and decided to work with both worlds. Natterjack puts most of its emphasis on using both Irish and American aging techniques. The three founders are still in the early stages of building a distillery which is set to occupy a 150-year-old former Irish wool mill.

Most of their whiskey is matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and then finished in New American Oak (bringing in that Bourbon feel). They also tend to use high corn Irish whiskeys which would also be representative of a Bourbon flavor profile. The name Natterjack comes from the Natterjack Toad. It has a distinctive yellow stripe, it walks instead of hops and its call can be heard from kilometers away. It is not shy and is the only toad native to Ireland so it felt fitting.
