Lost Lantern is a pioneer of both American Whiskey & Independent Bottlers. Typically we see independent bottlers in Scotland bottling whisky from distilleries all over the country. This is a niche of the industry allowing them to showcase superb single malts and small batch blends that otherwise wouldn’t be available. This has never been commonplace in the USA, until now! They are truly an “American Independent Bottler” and source rare and special whiskies from all over the USA. Their goal is to shine a light on whiskies you may not have seen or tasted before through single casks and blends. They bottle American Single Malts, Bourbons, and Ryes.

Taste

Based in Columbus, Middle West Spirits is one of the Midwest’s largest and most ambitious independent distilleries. This four-grain straight rye whiskey is made with dark pumpernickel rye grain, giving it a full, toasty, chocolatey, and earthy flavor. Aged for 4 years in a 53-gallon new oak barrel from Speyside Cooperage. Their first release from Middle West.

Brand Tasting Notes: It has notes of rich chocolate mousse and warm rye spice on the nose, with cocoa nibs, nutmeg, cinnamon, and leatherbound books on the palate.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Coffee, chocolate pumpkin pie, baking spice notes as well. Followed by rich charred cinnamon spice on the palate, burnt dark chocolate, and coffee beans.
