The Lost Distillery range is comprised of multiple blended malts that try to recreate the “lost” distilleries of Scotland. Over the past 200 years, Scotland has had many distilleries open and close for multiple reasons. The Lost Distillery brand finds old records and tasting notes of these brands and distilleries and recreates them with single malts they source throughout Scotland in the current day. “Lost but not forgotten.” is their slogan.

Taste

Gerston is a  blended malt that recreates the whisky that was made on Gerston Farm in Halkirk, Scotland in Caithness. This is the very north of mainland Scotland (think Old Pulteney). The distillery opened in 1796 and closed in 1882 due to “loss of water supply”.

Brand Tasting Notes: Light malt loaf, sultanas, allspice, maritime smokiness. The palate has a rich and smooth texture with nuttiness, chocolate, and smoke with a mineral twist.
