Description

James Watt Kelly, J.W. Kelly, immigrated to the US from Ireland and had an early education in whiskey. After settling in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1866, he created his own American Whiskey. He opened the Deep Spring Distillery in Chattanooga and always used pot still distillation which would have been used back in Ireland. His brand was called “Old Milford”. and this is the brand that has now been revitalized by Keeper’s Quest Brands out of Chattanooga. Keeper’s Quest also imports Murray McDavid Scotch Whisky and Riachi Lebanese Whisky.

Taste

This is the double-oaked single-barrel release. Every barrel is selected from barrels that are 5-8 years old. Once the barrel has been selected it is then transferred into a new American oak barrel and aged for another 8-12 months. Made out of a mixture of high corn, malted rye, and barley.

Holly’s Tasting Notes: Maple syrup, figs, and fig newtons. On the palate, there is more syrup viscosity along with some spice and Dr. Pepper/Coca-Cola richness.
