Description

A.D. Rattray is named after Andrew Dewar Rattray who got his start as an importer of French Wines, Italian Spirits, and olive oil in 1868. He then began to establish himself as a specialist in the field of blending and storing malt and grain whiskies. The company became well known for its wine & whisky selection throughout Glasgow. When Andrew passed away, the company went to a whisky broker named William Walker whose daughter later married Stanley Morrison. This Walker-Morrison duo both had a rich history in whisky and brought A.D. Rattray to where it is today.

A.D. Rattray is now considered one of the premium independent bottlers of the industry. The company is also behind the brands Stronachie and Bank Note. In 2017 they opened the Clydeside Distillery in Glasgow.

Taste

Brand Tasting Notes: The nose- Clover honey, Parma violet, ripe peach and wild heather embers. The palate- Grilled plum, old-fashioned barley sugar, noble hop, and caraway. The finish-  A prolonged peppery smoke lifted by tart citrus and foraged pine.
