Description
Lost Lantern is a pioneer of both American Whiskey & Independent Bottlers. Typically we see independent bottlers in Scotland bottling whisky from distilleries all over the country. This is a niche of the industry allowing them to showcase superb single malts and small batch blends that otherwise wouldn’t be available. This has never been commonplace in the USA, until now! They are truly an “American Independent Bottler” and source rare and special whiskies from all over the USA. Their goal is to shine a light on whiskies you may not have seen or tasted before through single casks and blends. They bottle American Single Malts, Bourbons, and Ryes.
Taste
Lost Lantern’s first-ever finished bourbon comes from Boulder, one of their most sought-after partners. Made from their unusual high-malt mashbill (51% corn, 44% malted barley, 5% rye), this was aged for 4.5 years in new oak and finished for 2.5 years in a 300-liter Armagnac cask.
Brand Tasting Notes: The rich nose has notes of golden raisins and honey-drenched graham crackers. The palate has hints of chocolate-covered cherries, cotton candy, clove, and nutmeg. The Armagnac finish magnifies the underlying sweetness and spice, creating a bright, bold, and unique single cask.
Holly’s Tasting Notes: Malt balls, vanilla wafer cookies a sweet wintergreen, and tree sap. Smells like a Vermont winter! The palate has more of that sweet toasted oak spice, sweet candied cinnamon, pine, and sweet mint with a tingle. A truly clean and refreshing sweetness.
